The Declaration of Independence has a famous statement that says that we are endowed with the right to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” But when this was written in 1776, it did not include everyone. There are many views about this statement. Some say that we’ve made great progress; others point to how far we still need to go. Some believe that focusing on the past prevents moving forward; others think we still need to come to terms with our history.
HERE is the conversation guide. The questions explored include:
- As you reflect on America’s founding aspirations, what are your thoughts and feelings about our country today?
- What local, state, or federal policies support your pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness? Which inhibit your pursuit?
- How have you seen local communities support their citizens in achieving their aspirations?
- What role, if any, do you experience our history playing in America today?
- How does your ideal modern America reflect its founding aspirations and past?
- What is your personal commitment to creating the America you want?
Is there a fee to participate?

How can I invite others to participate?
At the bottom of your Confirmation email which you will receive right after you register, there are some resources you can use to invite others. In a nutshell, we suggest reaching out 1:1 to those who think differently from you and telling them why you think they would like this conversation and why you are registered.
What do I need to participate?
