Online Living Room Conversation: The Census, Redistricting & Gerrymandering

September 22, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am PDT

Tickets are not available as this event has passed.

Join us for an online (using Zoom) Living Room Conversation on the topic of The Census, Redistricting & Gerrymandering. Please see the conversation guide for this topic (under Topics on this website). Some of the questions explored include:

  • Who should decide voting districts? I.e. the state legislature, citizen commission, party-appointed commission, governor appointed commission, the courts/judges, or ??
  • If you were king/queen for a day, how would you draw districts? Should certain ethnic or minority groups have protected districts to increase representation?
  • How should city/county boundaries and geography play a role in drawing district lines?
  • Have you ever been surprised to find out you were or were not in a voting district?

The conversation will take place on Saturday from 9 – 10:30m (Pacific). You will need a device with a webcam to participate (preferably a computer or tablet rather than a cell phone).

Please only sign up for a place in this conversation if you are 100% certain that you can join – and thank you – we have many folks waiting to have Living Room Conversations and hope to have 100% attendance.

A link to join the conversation and additional details will be sent to you by no later than the day before the conversation.

IMPORTANT: Please remember to RSVP by changing the number from “0” to “1” in the field provided (otherwise your RSVP won’t process).

Email mary@livingroomconversations.org with questions or if you have any difficulty signing up for the conversation.
